TT Club, a provider of liability insurance to the freight transport and logistics industry, has announced that three new members from insured organisations have joined its board.

The TT Club board, the Transport Mutual Insurance Association (TTB), is made up of policyholder representatives. Three new non-executive board members were announced at the TTB meeting in Rome this week, representing a spectrum of freight, logistics, cargo handling and intermodal container operators from around the world.

Wendy Chien was appointed in March this year. As managing director of contract logistics at Dimerco Express Group in Taipei, she brings experience in end-to-end logistics, warehousing and distribution across the Asia-Pacific region, leveraging multi-modal transportation options.

Frans Caljé is CEO of PD Ports, based in Teesside, North East England, which is well known for its port-centric logistics, combining quayside handling of all cargo types with continuous delivery across all modes of transport. Before being appointed CEO seven years ago, he was Managing Director, Unitised & Port-Centric Logistics at the same organisation. He also has experience with container terminal operator APM. His appointment to the board was effective from 20 June.

Nosiphesihle Mbongwa is based in Durban, South Africa and has been CFO of Bidvest Freight for six years. Previously, she worked for 10 years in the transport and logistics management group as a commercial director, and previously as a financial director in one of the subsidiaries. Her career in the freight industry spans over 20 years, both in distribution operations and as a container terminal operator. On June 20, she also joined the TTB management board.

TT Club CEO Charles Fenton commented: “Our board represents the organisations we insure. They represent every type of operator among our members and come from every region of the world. Indeed, our structure means that every member can influence the key decisions we make about the types of risks we insure and our strategic direction.

“Board nominations are recommended to voting members by the Nominating Committee, which strives to increase gender and ethnic diversity on the board, reflecting as much as possible the core membership of the TT Club. I am pleased that our commitment to this diversity continues to be represented in TT’s management.”
