People on the Move: Key Appointments and Promotions in the Northeast

Consulting in the field of lighthouse construction welcomed Josh Cauwood as a new surveyor to expand the team.

Associate Mr Cauwood joins Lantern after spending two and a half years working in the Newcastle office of Workman LLP where he developed skills in project management and contract administration. He has previously worked for Wearside housing association Gentoo Group, commercial and residential consultancy Building Surveyors Limited and regional estate agency Naylors Gavin Black.




He becomes the sixth member of the Lantern staff, based at the company’s new address at Generator Studios, Newcastle. Mr Cauwood said: “I am very excited to be joining Lantern at such an exciting time for the company and am looking forward to developing my experience. I am keen to be involved in carrying out building surveys, dilapidations, partition designs and other services to Lantern’s growing client base.”

Blaydon based waste management and recycling company NWH Group has appointed Gavin Money as its managing director. He joined the Biffy-based family business in 2023 and has held a number of senior management positions, initially as chief operating officer. Sadly, following the untimely death of the CEO in October 2023, he took over the reins of the company, providing support to the family and company during difficult times.

He said: “NWH Group is a highly respected name in the industry. I am honored to lead the company as Managing Director and committed to our mission of delivering exceptional waste management solutions while driving sustainable growth. Together with our dedicated team, we will continue to innovate and exceed expectations in service delivery.”

Sunderland based teacher recruitment company AK Teaching hired Emma Ramsey as chief operating officer. CIPD accredited HR specialist Ms Ramsey, who has held senior HR roles and worked for similar recruitment firms, has joined the 12-year-old company as it pursues a national development plan.

She said: “I am really excited to be joining the AK Teaching team and driving the growth of a business that serves its clients and employees so well. AK Teaching has a fantastic culture that has helped it become the high performing business it is today. I really want to help Anthony and Jonny build on this solid foundation to ensure AK continues to service an ever-growing portfolio of clients and look after the great team that contributes to the success of the business.

Graduated from Durham University whose software is accelerating the global transition to net zero, her work has been rewarded with a major promotion. Engineer Dr Henna Bains has been appointed Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of Newcastle-based Kinewell Energy, a cleantech company that provides software solutions to some of the world’s largest green energy producers.
