Galaxy A55 and subsequent Samsung devices will receive the June update

With June coming to an end soon, Samsung is rushing to update all eligible Galaxy devices to the June security patch as soon as possible. It recently released the latest security update for the Galaxy A55, Galaxy A14 5G, and Galaxy A05s. The company has already updated dozens of other models, including all the flagships and foldables launched in the past three years.

Galaxy A55 receives Samsung’s June security update

Galaxy A55 is the most premium model of Samsung’s A series. Launched in March, this phone combines premium quality with an affordable price. Like its predecessors, the device will receive monthly security updates for at least three years, after which the update frequency will decrease. It will receive security patches for five years, or until some point in 2029, when OS updates will be available up to Android 18.

Samsung has recently started updating the Galaxy A55 to the June 2024 SMR (Security Maintenance Release). The new security release is currently available for users in Europe and Asia. The new firmware build numbers in both regions are A556BXXS3AXF2 AND A556EXXS3AXF3accordingly. This phone did not arrive in the US, but was sold in several other regions. The June SMR should arrive in those markets soon.

This month’s security release for Galaxy devices includes fixes for 59 vulnerabilities. As usual, these include fixes for Google’s Android OS. The Android maker addressed 37 high-severity vulnerabilities in various software components and services that form the core of the Android operating system. The remaining 22 vulnerabilities existed in Samsung software or Galaxy components.

Among them was a critical flaw that could lead to arbitrary code execution if exploited by threat actors. In short, these monthly security patches are important updates that you shouldn’t skip. If these vulnerabilities remain unpatched, you’re leaving yourself vulnerable to potential attacks and hacks. You can check for new updates on your Galaxy A55 by going to the Software Update menu in the Settings app.

Galaxy A14 5G and A05s will also receive these security patches

In addition to the Galaxy A55, Samsung secures the Galaxy A14 5G and Galaxy A05s. These affordable Android phones are receiving the same security vulnerability fixes with the June update. Updated build numbers for phones are A146MUBS5CXF3 AND A057FXXS4CXF1respectively. The Korean company should roll out the updates globally soon. These two models receive quarterly patches, so Samsung could skip the next few SMRs before rolling out the next security update. The 4G version of the Galaxy A14 has already received the latest security patch.
