Sources say that French antitrust authorities are preparing charges against Nvidia

BRUSSELS, July 1 (Reuters) – French competition authorities are preparing to charge Nvidia for alleged anti-competitive practices, people with direct knowledge of the matter said. The company is the first body to do so.

The so-called French statement of opposition, or charge sheet, comes after the recent raids on the graphics card sector in September last year, which sources said were aimed at Nvidia.

The world’s largest maker of chips used in both artificial intelligence and computer graphics saw a surge in demand for its chips after the release of its generative AI application ChatGPT late last year, sparking regulatory scrutiny on both sides of the Atlantic.
