Australian cruiser called ‘sick troll’ by fellow guests for innocent act on board: ‘You’re putting us all in danger’

A cruise traveler thought she was doing future guests a “favor” by leaving her $8 kettle in the bottom drawer of her suite.

But she didn’t know that this common household item is banned on cruises because it’s considered a “fire hazard.”

Julie shared images on Facebook of the basic white kettle left unplugged in the drawers, but was quickly slammed by outraged guests who branded her a “danger” and a “sick troll”.

“Anyone who goes on this cruise and leaves today. I left my kettle with you, it only cost $8 and I didn’t want to take it home. It’s in the bottom drawer with gifts for you,” she captioned the post.

This sparked fury from other travelers who were shocked the item was not collected by security before boarding.

Items with an open flame or heating element are prohibited on a cruise, with the exception of hair dryers and straighteners.

“Kettles can start a fire on a ship. Please don’t come on a cruise I’m on,” one warned.

“You’re lucky he got through security and you’re lucky your cabin crew didn’t see him.” You’re lucky this hasn’t been a problem during your use. There is a risk of fire and fire is the worst thing that can happen on a cruise! » » another added.

What is not allowed on a cruise ship?

In addition to weapons, alcohol, drugs and pets, items with an open flame or heating element are considered a fire hazard and are prohibited.

These include coffee makers, kettles, hotplates, candles, incense, heating pads, electric blankets and irons.

“It is very irresponsible to bring a prohibited item on board and then allow other people to continue using it. I suspect this may just be a sick troll post,” another wrote.

“This will be confiscated when the room is cleaned. Someone at the port hasn’t done their job if you keep this up.

Others were shocked by the amount of hate Julie received and called the act an “innocent mistake.”

‘WOW! Give the poor lady some rest! “She obviously didn’t know she wasn’t allowed to take a kettle on board and thought she was doing something nice for the next guests in that room,” one said.

“If this had not been allowed, the cabin crew would have confiscated them before or during the cruise,” wrote another

“The cleaners will empty the drawers and the items will be lost. But I love your thoughtful intention behind it,” a third added.

Other items, including candles, incense, heating pads, electric blankets and irons, are also prohibited on cruises.
