Odisha sets up panel for MBBS Books translation into Oriya, ET Education

“Considering the imperative to provide medical education in Odia language in the state, a committee has been constituted to look into the matter, identify the necessary medical textbooks to be translated into Odia language and work out the timeline and budgetary requirement for the implementation of the same,” the order issued by the health department said.

Bhubaneswar, Odisha government on Thursday constituted a committee to frame timelines and budgetary requirements for identification and translation of MBBS textbooks into Odia. “In view of the mandate to provide medical education in Odia in the state, a committee has been constituted to look into the matter, identify necessary textbooks for MBBS education, which need to be translated into Odia and work out timelines and budgetary requirements for undertaking the same,” an order issued by the health department said. Vice-Chancellor of Orissa University of Health Sciences, Manash Ranjan Sahoo, has been appointed as the chairman of the committee, while the registrar is the coordinator of members.

The 22-member committee will assess the scope of work required and the timeline needed to complete it, the order said.

The panel was asked to submit its proposal to the health department within 15 days.
