SECURITY: Governor Ododo reaffirms commitment to deal decisively with criminals, distributes security gadgets to 1,050 hunters in Kogi.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Thursday distributed security gadgets to 1,050 hunters to help them fight crime in the state.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ododo expressed the commitment of his administration to take decisive action against anyone who intends to disturb the people of Kogi State.

The governor disclosed that Kogi State would never become a breeding ground for criminals, stressing that everyone must pitch in to eliminate enemies of the state.

He advised the hunters to maintain professionalism and assist other security agencies in the fight against crime in the country.

“My administration has adopted
Kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to keep our people safe.
Kogites, we need to protect ourselves. If we don’t, no one will. Kogi State is not a free trade zone for criminals.

“When you see them, deal with them firmly. Criminals must be wiped out from our land. When you come with a criminal mind, we are always ready to throw you out. Once again, when you see criminals, deal with them,” he warned.

Earlier in his speech, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bertrand Onuoha, disclosed that the items being distributed are to assist conventional security agencies in the state in the fight against insecurity.

Commending the Kogi State Governor for his foresight in securing lives and property, the Commissioner said:
“We all know the topography of Kogi State which creates security challenges. All that we see is in line with the Inspector General of Police’s opinion on community policing.

“If all these security agencies are set up without synergy, not much will be achieved. I am using this medium to call for integration of all security agencies in the state. I have directed the area commanders to always use rangers and hunters. When we are in synergy, our services will be more interesting.

Onuoha advised members of the hunters association and vigilantes to always work with other security agencies to curb criminals in Kogi State.

He urged them to always do all in their power to protect law-abiding citizens of Kogi State.
