Colleagues, managers for sale: New trend among Chinese youth will leave you confused

Haven’t we all had a tough time at work due to a quarrel with our bosses? Well, there are many anecdotes on the internet where people have had problems with their managers and bosses. As such, China has found unique and funny ways to deal with this problem and release the stress caused by their overwhelming workload. Recently, a trend has emerged in China where young employees have started listing their bosses, colleagues and job offers for sale on second-hand e-commerce platforms. It has been discovered that people are selling them on Xianyu, Alibaba’s famous e-commerce platform for second-hand or second-hand goods.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, young people in China are resorting to this to “wash off the smell of work.” In China, ban wei, or “the smell of work,” becomes extremely intense and refers to the feeling of mental and physical exhaustion that people feel after a long day at work. Many people have been found to be selling their work and that of their colleagues on Xianyu, one of China’s largest e-commerce platforms for used goods, simply to relieve the stress of work.

On the website, some of the listings include “annoying bosses”, “horrible job” and “hated coworkers”, which are up for sale at prices ranging from Rs 4 lakh to Rs 9 lakh.

This trend in China shows that people are increasingly turning to such light ways of coping with work pressure and escaping from a stressful work culture.

According to the South China Morning Post, one user revealed that he sells his work for 90,000 rupees. He added that the work earns him 30,000 rupees per month, and buyers can get the investment amount within three months. He also revealed that the main reason he put his work on the e-commerce platform is that he does not want to wake up early.

Another user listed his colleague on the platform because he was extremely sarcastic. He listed his colleague for 45,000 rupees.
