Perplexity AI Introduces In-House Knowledge Search Capabilities and Spaces Collaboration Center

Perplexity AI is rolling out two new features to enable new ways to use the artificial intelligence (AI) search platform capabilities. Announced last week, the AI company introduced internal knowledge and space search capabilities. The former allows users to search for prompts and get answers based on an internal knowledge base, while the latter is a collaboration tool that allows users to invite others to participate in a research project . Both features are currently available to paid Perplexity AI subscribers, including Perplexity Pro and Perplexity Enterprise Pro users.

Perplexity AI launches new features

In a blog post, Perplexity AI announced two new features for the AI search platform. The first is the search for internal knowledge. As the name suggests, it allows users to search for prompts and get answers from an internal knowledge base that they have downloaded. While users already had the ability to upload files and get answers based on them, the new feature now allows users to get a consolidated answer based on both uploaded files and public search on the web.

This way, users can set a framework for the level of answers they are looking for and use web search to find more information in an easy-to-read format. The company said this was a highly requested feature.

The AI company appears to have designed this feature for its enterprise clients. Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, highlighted, “Searching the web in the context of what is relevant to a particular business has never been possible before. Being able to perform all your research – from internal and external data sources – on a single, consolidated knowledge platform will unlock huge productivity gains for every business.

Perplexity Spaces is the second feature being rolled out to the platform’s paying subscribers. Collaboration-focused functionality allows multiple users to find and organize information together. Any user with access to Spaces can configure it and invite collaborators such as colleagues or friends to add internal files. Collaborators can also select a specific AI model and set specific instructions for how the chatbot should respond to queries.

When it comes to privacy and security, the company said Perplexity will offer users a secure and private way to conduct searches without having to worry about their data being compromised. However, the AI company did not specifically mention whether the AI would be trained on user data kept on Spaces.

Perplexity also highlighted that it will soon introduce third-party data integration with platforms like Crunchbase and FactSet for Enterprise Pro subscribers. Users with an active subscription to either service can add information from these sources to their internal knowledge bases.
