CM Goa Sawant said that with the new training opportunities, students from Goa will be able to join future space missions

Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that students from Goa could take part in space missions in future, given the kind of training opportunities available in the state.

During a virtual interaction with 60,000 students from various schools, the state government is working towards making students excel in research, innovation and information technology sectors under the Centre’s skill enhancement programme, Sawant said.

“Sometimes I wonder why students from Goa could not take part in space missions in future, considering the kind of skills available in the state,” the Prime Minister said.

He spoke on the topic “Career guidance and safety in the face of cybercrime.”

Sawant noted that some components of Chandrayaan-3 were manufactured by Kineco Group, a Goa-based company.

He added that there are 12 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in Goa which offer 14-15 different courses while emphasising on skill development.

Sawant said students should be aware of career opportunities and competitive exams of Goa Public Service Commission, Staff Selection Commission and UPSC, appealing to teachers to inform parents about these opportunities.
