Digital Corridor Helps Young Pakistani Entrepreneurs

ISLAMABAD – The China-Pakistan digital corridor is helping young Pakistani entrepreneurs, Fahad Raja, co-founder of Pakistani e-commerce platform Deal Kart, said at the EuroAsia Pakistan Digital Economy Forum held here.

“You could say that our platform is the Pakistani version of Pinduoduo. As an e-commerce platform that targets price-sensitive users, groceries and daily essentials are within our reach.”

“As a global giant, Pinduoduo has not yet started operations in Pakistan. But that’s not a problem, we are building Pinduoduo for ourselves,” Raja told China Economic Net (CEN).

His career is closely linked to Chinese companies, especially those involved in e-commerce.

“In terms of payments, logistics, technology, etc., Chinese companies have attracted global attention and achieved great success.

For us in emerging markets, there is too much experience and too little time to learn, so we urgently need more connections.”

Another young entrepreneur, Shahada Salam, mentioned that CPEC brings transportation efficiency in Pakistan’s supply chain.

“In my country, most of the equipment comes from China, such as biometric devices needed to solve security problems, so this corridor is very helpful in delivering equipment and technology products on time.

Nowadays, more and more Chinese companies are setting up their offices in the special economic zone located in my hometown, Islamabad, including manufacturing and supply chain departments.

We are also inviting a large number of Chinese technology companies to open offices there so that we can better help them expand their operations throughout the country and then from Pakistan to the Middle East, Europe and Africa…

In the future, this will become an incredible “digital corridor.”

The forum was attended by over 200 representatives from various backgrounds from China and Pakistan. All of them looked forward to a bright future in which the digital economy will bring benefits to both countries.

Speaking at the Global Digital Economy Conference 2024, Shaza Fatima Khwaja, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Pakistan, said that in recent years, the world has witnessed a digital revolution that has made the IT sector a cornerstone of economic development, innovation and social transformation.

Recognizing the enormous potential of this sector, “both Pakistan and China have made significant progress in realizing its opportunities.”
