Congress MP from Jadcherla courts controversy with comments on Tirumala visit

Hyderabad: Courting controversy over Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) not accepting letters of recommendation issued by Telangana MPs, Congress MP from Jadcherla J Anirudh Reddy said that if all Telangana MPs pass a resolution during of the December session for not allowing Andhra Pradesh leaders to enter the state, then they would realize the pain.

He recalled that during the ‘Dial Your EO’ program in August, the TTD EO had also said that letters of recommendation from public representatives of Telangana would not be accepted. Appealing to the TTD management to accept the recommendation letters issued by Telangana MPs, the Jadcherla MP said this would make it easier for people to attend darshan of Lord Venkateswara.

“If our demand is not taken into account, in the next Assembly session in December, all Telangana MLAs will take a decision. Ultimately, the leaders and people of Andhra Pradesh will have to suffer,” Anirudh Reddy said after offering prayers in Tirumala on Monday. He was accompanied by Congress MLC Balmoori Venkat.

He also recalled the two-eyes policy of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. During the bifurcation of the state, the TDP chief had said that Telangana was one eye and Andhra Pradesh the other. Has he removed one of his eyes now, he asked.

“When Andhra Pradesh MPs visit or call on officers from Yadagirigutta or Bhadrachalam, darshan and other facilities are arranged for them. Why this discrimination against public elected officials in Telangana? he asked.

When the YSRCP government was formed in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP leaders were conducting their affairs in Telangana. Similarly, when TDP succeeds, YSRCP leaders come to Hyderabad. Although people of Andhra Pradesh conduct their business here, Telangana people have never uttered a word, he asserted, stressing that AP leaders should consider Telangana people as their brothers and not visit the State only for the good of their affairs.
