Bangalore Weather Update: Orange Alert for Heavy Rain, Lightning in THESE Areas

Weather Today in Bengaluru: The Regional Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, forecasting moderate to heavy rain, as well as lightning for urban and rural districts of Bengaluru today, October 21.

The regional weather observatory issued the latest forecast around 6:45 am, saying Bengaluru was likely to witness heavy downpours in the next three hours.

Besides, the Met department also warned of temporary power cuts and minor traffic jams due to heavy rains in the districts.

The Bengaluru district collector has also announced a public holiday for all schools and anganwadis in the city today, October 21, due to heavy rainfall in the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather warning for heavy rains in Karnataka and coastal India due to Cyclone Dana, which is expected to make landfall in coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal around October 23.

Additionally, heavy rains are expected today in Gujarat, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, coastal and northern interior Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Andhra Pradesh.

Cyclone Dana to hit West Bengal and Odisha on October 23

Earlier, IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said the cyclonic circulation is likely to take the form of a severe cyclonic storm. As a result, parts of Odisha and West Bengal are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rains from October 23.

For Odisha, the IMD has issued a red alert for isolated heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20 cm), with possibility of extremely heavy rain (more than 20 cm) and thunderstorm with lightning, for the districts of Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Jagatsinghpur. on October 24.
