Microsoft Copilot Studio will offer tools to create autonomous AI agents

Microsoft has announced that its Copilot Studio will soon deliver a set of new features, allowing customers to create autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents that operate with minimal human intervention and undertake complex tasks.

The offering, announced as part of the company’s strategy to capitalize on the growing AI market, will be available from November, Reuters reported.

Unlike chatbots, these agents are designed to autonomously handle tasks such as handling customer queries, identifying prospects, and monitoring inventory.

A user-friendly application, Copilot Studio makes creating these AI agents simple, even for those with limited coding expertise.

Microsoft uses a range of AI models, including those developed internally and by OpenAI, to empower these agents.

The company will also deploy ten ready-made agents who can help with day-to-day tasks, from supply chain management to expense tracking and customer communication.

In a demonstration, McKinsey & Co, which had early access to the tools, demonstrated an agent capable of handling customer requests.

This agent can view interaction history, determine the appropriate consultant for the task, and schedule follow-up meetings.

Despite the excitement around AI, technology companies are under increasing pressure to demonstrate the value of their substantial investments in this area.

Charles Lamanna, Copilot vice president for business and industry at Microsoft, said in the newspaper: “The idea is that Copilot (the company’s chatbot) is the user interface for the AI. »

“Each employee will have a Copilot, their personalized AI agent, and then use that Copilot to interface and interact with the sea of AI agents that will be there.”

Microsoft’s stock performance has been in focus, falling 2.8% in the September quarter, although shares are expected to see an overall increase of more than 10% in 2024.

Recently, Microsoft announced an expansion of its healthcare AI capabilities within the Microsoft Cloud for Healthcare to improve data analysis.

“Microsoft Copilot Studio will offer tools to create autonomous AI agents” was originally created and published by Verdict, a brand owned by GlobalData.
