Euro 2024 defender confirmed as Atletico Madrid’s next top target after signing Robin Le Normand

Atletico Madrid have made a flying start to the summer transfer window, having completed a deal for Real Sociedad defender Robin Le Normand – an announcement is expected in the next few weeks – a huge success for Los Colchoneros, although the club’s chiefs are not resting on their laurels.

Further negotiations are ongoing. A new midfielder is sought, with Le Normand’s current club and international team-mate Mikel Merino a prime target. Work is also underway for a left-sided centre-back, with Feyenoord’s David Hancko a desired option for Atleti, according to Marca.

Atleti have been in talks with Feyenoord for the past few weeks, and given Hancko’s participation in Euro 2024 ended earlier this week, negotiations should start to progress. There is currently a disagreement over the amount, with Atleti unwilling to pay the requested €35 million.

Despite this, the club remains confident of getting the deal done, especially with Hancko extremely keen to join Atletico Madrid. Expect significant moves in the coming weeks.
