Technip Energies and SBM Offshore form floating offshore wind joint venture

(WO) – Technip Energies and SBM Offshore announced the formal launch of Ekwil, a 50/50 floating offshore wind (FOW) joint venture.


Ekwil is a full-service solutions provider offering a diverse range of mass-produced floating offshore wind farms designed to meet the growing and demanding needs of energy customers worldwide.

Ekwil combines the knowledge and experience of two leaders in energy transformation to jointly drive progress on two cutting-edge technologies – Technip Energies’ semi-submersible INO and SBM Offshore’s Tension Leg Float4Wind platform.

This approach covers a broad spectrum of the FOW market, with the aim of bringing these technologies to commercial implementation. Based in France, Ekwil relies on a core team of 40 specialists, combining knowledge and innovation capabilities in a fully integrated team, and will be supported by talented resources from SBM Offshore and Technip Energies to deliver the project.

With 25 years of experience in the offshore industry, Séverine Baudic, former Managing Director of New Energies & Services at SBM Offshore, is CEO of Ekwil. Willy Gauttier, previously Vice President of Floating Offshore Wind at Technip Energies, is COO.
