RBC WM hires CS, UBS and EFG bankers in Asia

Royal Bank of Canada’s wealth management division has hired more than a half-dozen private bankers in Asia from Credit Suisse, UBS and EFG.

RBC Wealth Management has hired Daniel Soo in Singapore as managing director and head of market, according to a statement. He has 28 years of experience in financial services, most recently at UBS, where he was managing director and head of the market team. Previously, Soo worked at Credit Suisse for eight years and at Standard Chartered Private Bank for nine years.

Canadian private bank also hired Lawrence Yap as an executive director in Singapore. Yap has almost 25 years of banking experience, most recently at Credit Suisse, where he spent eight years. He also previously held senior positions at Standard Chartered Private Bank and HSBC Private Bank.

Meetings in Hong Kong

In addition, RBC Wealth Management also announced a number of appointments in Hong Kong. They include former Credit Suisse executives Joe Lau (over 25 years of experience in banking) as an executive director and team leader, Ada Wang (over 20 years of experience in banking) as an executive director, Christy Yuan (over 25 years of experience in wealth management) as an executive director and Danny Zhao (over 17 years of experience in private banking) as a director.

The bank also welcomed the former director of EFG Sarah Tanwho has 25 years of experience in private banking, as executive director.
