The code shows a new “Home Accessory” device

A snippet of code in the backend reveals a new “home accessory” that is not an Apple TV or HomePod.

The code references the “HomeAccessory17,1” identifier, similar to the “AudioAccessory” identifier for the HomePod. It’s worth noting that the line exposed is a new identifier, with the 17,1 potentially receiving the A18 chip. The A18 chip is believed to be going into all iPhone 16 models, which are set to launch in the fall. Having this component also means the device will have Apple Intelligence.

HomePod

The “home accessory” is said to run a version of tvOS software similar to the HomePod. There is evidence that Apple is working on homeOS, the firmware that could appear on the home accessory. References to new Apple TV models with the identifiers AppleTV14.5 and AppleTV14.4 suggest that they could be launching soon.
