Delivery Hero – EU antitrust fine could exceed €400 million

Food delivery company Delivery Hero is expecting a much higher fine for alleged anti-competitive agreements than previously thought.

Ultimately, the company could face a fine of more than €400 million, the MDax-listed company announced on Sunday evening. The board has therefore decided to significantly increase the €186 million reserve that has already been set aside. The decision was made on the basis of a recent informal exchange with the European Commission and a subsequent detailed analysis.

The European Commission raided Delivery Hero in mid-2022 and late 2023. The group could face a hefty fine, Sunday reported, over allegations of sharing domestic markets, exchanging sensitive commercial information and failing to solicit customers. Delivery Hero intends to fully cooperate with the European Commission, as it did with unannounced raids in 2022 and 2023, it said.
