European Energy announces approval of 500 MW of grid connections in Romania

Danish renewable energy group European Energy announced that it has received grid connection approvals for some 500 MW of solar and wind power projects across Romania, bringing the projects closer to being ready for construction.

The total value of solar and wind projects implemented by European Energy Romania now exceeds 1.5 GW, and the company is working on obtaining permits to connect the remaining projects to the grid.

“We consider Romania to be a very promising market. The upcoming Contract for Difference auction, described in the Romanian Renewable Energy Support Program, with a total value of five GW, will enable the implementation of more wind and solar projects,” said Ioannis Kalapodas, Head of European Energy’s Romanian Office.

Founded in 2004, European Energy is a Danish company that started with the first onshore wind projects in Germany. It currently selects projects in more than 29 countries and has actual development activities in 19 countries.

Globally, the company has a portfolio of projects with a total capacity of 65 GW in 25 countries on four continents and employs over 700 people.
