CM chairs meeting to discuss reforms in health and education sectors

Peshawar – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Khan Gandapur chaired a key meeting to discuss reforms in health and education sectors, during which important policy decisions were taken.

The CM issued directives to streamline and improve the current education and healthcare systems, seeking better management and service delivery. Emphasizing decentralization, he ordered the appointment of additional director generals at the regional level to ensure efficient operations.

Highlighting the challenge of managing large departments centrally, the CM stressed the importance of local management for better service delivery. He directed that teachers and paramedical staff should be deployed at their headquarters and, if necessary, legislative changes be proposed.

He further directed the health department to collect data on unused medical equipment in government hospitals within a week, emphasising its effective use or redistribution to facilities that need it.

To improve resource management and monitoring, the CM called for prioritising the digitisation of health and education departments.

The meeting noted significant improvements in the primary health care system under the current government, with monthly visits to primary health care facilities increasing from 0.05 million to 0.07 million. The CM praised this progress and called for further efforts to strengthen local health care services.

He also stressed the need for transparency in teacher transfers, a halt to the appointment of teaching staff to administrative positions and maintaining separate teaching and management staff in both sectors.

The discussion also raised the issue of introducing an Education Card, similar to the Health Card, which would aim to facilitate admission to private schools where public alternatives are unavailable or unavailable.
