New Shopify improvements make shopping more efficient

Shopify has announced over 150 updates to help Australian merchants standardise their shopping experience.

With improvements across Point of Sale (POS), AI, analytics, merchandising, and more, Shopify is creating a more streamlined and unified commerce experience for merchants and developers. Updates include AI-powered tools that power content generation and help merchants respond quickly to customers, features that enable smoother in-person transactions, and the evolution of Markets to make scaling your business smoother.

Simplify expansion with redesigned marketplaces

With the new version of Shopify Markets feature, merchants can sell internationally, expand to B2B, and sell in person with Shopify POS — all consolidated into one place in their administration. They no longer have to navigate multiple stores or use different workflows. The process remains consistent — simply create a new marketplace (international, wholesale, in-store), make adjustments, and they’re ready to go.

AI enhancements built for trading

Shopify has taken its AI-powered features to the next level, implementing them across its entire store so merchants can save valuable hours and money.

New features include:

  • Media Editor: In January, Shopify launched AI image generation through the Media Editor, and merchants have saved over a million AI-generated images to their storefronts. Now, Shopify has expanded AI image editing to all areas of the Shopify admin where merchants use images, such as the Online Store Editor and Email Editor. The feature is also available on the mobile app, so merchants can perform professional image edits on the go.
  • Creating AI-powered products: Now there’s an easier way to add new products to your store. With just a few keywords and a product image, Shopify Magic instantly suggests personalized and intelligent recommendations for all product categories. It assigns the right attributes to new products—like color, size, and style—minimizing listing errors so customers can easily find them on the merchant’s online store, social media, and marketplaces.
  • Suggested answers: Answering online shoppers’ questions in real time can take up valuable time that merchants don’t have. Now, Shopify Magic quickly suggests an AI-generated response to an incoming customer’s chat based on information specific to the merchant’s store. Merchants can then approve (or edit) the response, hit Send when they have the customer’s attention, and continue selling—all in a matter of seconds.

Improve your store sales

Creating a seamless in-store shopping journey is key for businesses. As Australians continue to show interest in in-store experiences, Shopify has made a number of improvements to make selling in person as easy as selling online.

POS updates include:

  • Automations: Retailers can now offer digital receipts with a single tap. If a customer in-store is a Shop Pay user, their email address is displayed at checkout, where they can opt in to receive digital receipts and marketing materials. Shopify has also enabled automatic detection of whether an item can be returned and provides staff with context as to why. This reduces uncertainty for staff and creates a more consistent returns experience for customers.
  • Discounts: Merchants can take advantage of the added flexibility when it comes to creating compelling offers for customers. Multiple discounts can now be applied to the cart at once at POS. Merchants can also enhance their promotional strategies by introducing “Buy X, Get Y” discount codes.

Support timely decision-making with up-to-date data

In a competitive retail environment, merchants need to be able to analyze customer behavior and quickly pivot when needed. Fragmented and outdated data impacts timely decision-making, which is why Shopify has completely rebuilt its analytics to be smarter, faster, and more intuitive for merchants.

WITH unified analyticsWith the updated Shopify dashboard, merchants can act on smarter, faster, and more intuitive data. The dashboard also includes a pre-configured report designed to provide insight into the most common questions merchants ask about commerce.
