How to Fix Chrome Bookmarks Not Syncing

Initial corrections

Fix 1: Check if sync is turned on

When you sign in to Chrome, it syncs all your data. Sometimes syncing is disabled for bookmarks, so you don’t see them on other connected devices.

On the computer

Step 1: In Chrome, click three dots icon and select Settings.

Step 2: click on Turn something on button. present next to your name. This indicates that sync is turned on.

If it says Enable, sync is disabled and needs to be enabled. Then follow the steps below.

Step 3: Click Manage what you sync. On the next screen, make sure the switch next to Sync everything it is on.

If it is off, check if Bookmarks switch enabled. Enabling the bookmarks switch will sync with any device.

In the Chrome mobile app

Step 2: Click on your name at the top.

Step 3: Tap on Synchronization. On the next screen, check if Sync everything is on. If it is off, make sure Bookmark synchronization it is on.

Fix 2: Force Chrome Bookmarks to Sync

Sometimes disabling bookmark syncing resets the issue. To do this, repeat the steps listed above for both the PC and mobile apps. However, in the last step, disable the toggle next to Bookmarks. Wait a moment, then enable it. This will force the browser to re-sync your bookmarks.

Solution 3: Disable sync completely

If re-syncing your bookmarks didn’t help, try disabling syncing altogether. Here’s what you need to do to disable syncing.

On the computer

Step 1: In Chrome, click three dots icon and select Settings.

Step 2: Click Turn something off next to your name.

Step 3: Close Chrome and repeat the steps. Now turn on sync.

In the Chrome mobile app

Step 1: Beginning Chrometouch three dots icon and select Settings.

Step 2: Click on your name at the top.

Step 3: Tap on Synchronization. On the next screen, check if Sync everything is on. If it is off, make sure Bookmark synchronization it is on.

Step 4: Close Chrome, removing it from your recent apps list. Then reopen it and repeat the steps to enable sync.

Fix 4: Disable Extensions

If you recently installed an extension, try disabling it. Otherwise, you’ll need to disable existing extensions one by one to find the culprit.

Step 1: Beginning Chromeclick on three dots icon and select Extensions followed by Manage extensions.

Step 2: Use the switch next to each extension to disable it.

Once you find the culprit, disable or remove the app.
