Description

The Center for Translational Medical Devices (CENTMED) at New York University in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Research Assistant for this new initiative aimed at designing and developing novel medical devices for widespread human use.

The successful candidate will join several exciting projects focused on novel engineering approaches to improve diagnostics and therapeutics of metabolic, cardiovascular and neurological diseases. These projects include computational modeling, device design and fabrication, optimization of chemical, mechanical and electrical characterization, and preclinical experiments. The candidate will be involved in supporting research efforts, primarily data collection and analysis, as well as project management, training of new laboratory members, purchasing equipment and consumables, and manuscript preparation. This position offers the opportunity to participate in several research projects, depending on experience and willingness to learn. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD level researchers, postgraduate students and undergraduate students.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in engineering or biomedical science, two years of laboratory experience, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team; with strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills. Applicants should be willing to work with rodent models, including basic handling and surgical techniques. A high level of English is required. Excellent computational, experimental, or engineering skills are strongly preferred.
