It’s a new position at EG America, a company spokesperson confirmed in an email. In her role, Johnson will drive growth for the c-store retailer through its digital presence and loyalty programs, according to the announcement.

Johnson recently founded Capstone Growth Advisors, a consulting firm focused on the CPG, e-commerce and retail sectors. The firm helps startups entering new retail channels leverage AI and predictive analytics to grow their business, according to Johnson’s LinkedIn bio.

Prior to founding the company, Johnson served as general manager of merchandising at grocery delivery company Gopuff for three years, where she led category management, revenue growth management and private label segments, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Johnson has previous c-store experience, serving three years as director of merchandising strategy at Murphy USA and nine years in various merchandising roles—including senior category manager, center store—at Sunoco.

“We are thrilled to have Whitney join EG America,” said Brian Ferguson, Chief Marketing Officer, EG America. “She brings the breadth and depth of experience we need in loyalty marketing, merchandising and digital commerce strategies to grow our business.”

Johnson isn’t the only recent change in EG America’s leadership. The company named Lisa N’Chonon its CFO in June after she spent nearly a year as interim CFO. At the same time, the company also named Laura Sherman as general counsel.

Parent company EG Group also recently announced a management shake-up, with co-CEO Zuber Issa revealing he will step down from his role at the end of the year following the purchase of the UK petrol station business. His departure will leave his brother and current co-CEO Mohsin Issa as sole CEO.

Blackburn, UK-based EG Group currently has more than 5,500 c-stores in the U.S., U.K. and Ireland, Europe and Australia. EG America has more than 1,500 stores and 18,000 employees in the U.S. under various banners, including Cumberland Farms, Loaf N’ Jug and Turkey Hill.
