Supporting Nigerian Tech Startups: Launch of Regulatory and Compliance School Project

In a bid to improve the regulatory and compliance capabilities of Nigerian tech startups, UK-Nigeria Tech Hub, Viaduct Design and Creativity Foundation and Golborne Road Advisory (“GRA”) are proud to announce the Regulatory and Compliance School Project.

Recent research indicates that 24% of Nigerian fintechs find navigating the regulatory environment a major challenge, while 18% struggle with compliance and 70% do not have dedicated compliance staff. The introduction of new regulations such as the Nigeria Data Protection Bill, 2023, and evolving cybersecurity regulations are increasing compliance requirements for startups. The Regulatory and Compliance School will address these skill gaps through a structured, two-phase approach that will be delivered to three cohorts of startups.

The first phase will include intensive workshops, offering both theoretical and practical knowledge relevant to the local context. These workshops aim to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the regulatory landscape with confidence.

In the second phase, cohorts will continue to be supported through GRA regulatory and compliance clinics, conducted on a voluntary basis for three months following the workshops.

Both phases are free of charge thanks to the kind support of UK-Nigeria Tech Hub.

At the end of this initiative, participants operating in different sub-sectors will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively comply with local and international regulations, thus contributing to the stability and development of the ecosystem. Interested participants must complete the questionnaire available on our website www.gra.africa/complianceschool. For further information, please send an email to [email protected].
