JKTPO supports local entrepreneurs through e-commerce implementation campaign

As part of the ongoing e-commerce drive, Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) in association with Kulgam District Administration and leading e-commerce players today achieved another milestone towards strengthening and boosting economic growth in the region by organising an e-commerce drive at Auditorium Hall, DC Office, Kulgam

The main objective of the campaign was to reach out to local communities to promote local products and make entrepreneurs/artisans aware of the benefits of selling products on e-commerce platforms and expand their business in the global market. The campaign is in line with the planned campaigns that will be held across the UT to introduce local products on the e-commerce platform.

The event witnessed an exciting and active participation of 200 participants including women entrepreneurs, retailers, artisans, exporters, growers and FPOs. The event highlighted the benefits of onboarding on e-commerce platforms and encouraged the participants to join the online marketplace.

During this full-day ride, around 50 participants were registered on-site for free from different sectors, and the rest started the onboarding process. The ride included in-depth expert sessions on the benefits of selling products on e-commerce platforms.

The JKTPO representative highlighted the importance of ODOP and DEH initiatives and the benefits of introducing products to the e-commerce platform.

Dr. Bashir Ahmad Lone, CEO, District Industries Centre Kulgam, addressed the forum, highlighting the key role of digital commerce in business growth. He shared insights on the e-Commerce network and highlighted the numerous benefits of joining the platform.

The recruitment campaign is in line with JKTPO’s strategy to support local exporters by providing diverse marketing platforms and forward-looking links.

Maqbool Shah from GeM gave a detailed presentation on the importance of GeM and the registration process on the GeM portal and also facilitated the participants to register on the GeM portal.

Gulzar Ahmad Mir, Sales Tax Officer, Kulgam, also gave a PowerPoint presentation on GST, its importance for doing online business and the registration process.

Ravinder Kumar Tripathi, Director Agriculture, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Reshi, Technical Director, Department of Agriculture, Kulgam, Dr. Kausar Hakeem and representatives of JKKVIB, DE&CC and Handicrafts also graced the occasion with their in-depth knowledge of their domain and also addressed the grievances of the participants on time.

The highlight of the event was the one-on-one onboarding sessions where vendors and partners were directly connected to the GeM portal. This hands-on approach allowed participants to quickly integrate with the market.

The event was a demonstration of the commitment of JKTPO and the district administration to support local entrepreneurs and facilitate their entry into the global e-commerce market by providing a platform for small businesses to reach a global audience. The initiative aims to boost economic growth and create sustainable opportunities for the vibrant entrepreneurial community in Jammu and Kashmir.

A similar recruitment drive is currently underway in other districts of the UT and will be a continuation of a series of such events aimed at supporting the induction of potential e-commerce entrepreneurs and improving the socio-economic situation of Jammu and Kashmir.
