Hitachi America Names New CEO/President and Executive Chairman

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – June 27, 2024 – Hitachi America, Ltd. (“Hitachi America”) announced the appointment of Shashank Samant as Executive Chairman of Hitachi America, Ltd. and Jun Taniguchi as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hitachi America, Ltd. These appointments are effective April 1, 2024. Hitachi America is the regional headquarters of Hitachi Group, and these leadership appointments represent an important milestone as the company continues to advance its purpose of realizing a sustainable society through the use of data and technology, the leverage of IT, OT and innovative products.


Shashank Samant brings over 35 years of technology experience to his new role as Executive Chairman of the Board of Hitachi America, Ltd. Prior to this appointment, Shashank served as President and CEO of GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company. Notably, he led the company through Hitachi Ltd.’s acquisition of GlobalLogic in 2021, one of the largest service acquisitions in history. During his 14-year tenure, he catalyzed innovation and facilitated the digital aspirations of numerous Fortune 1000 companies. In addition to his role as Executive Chairman, Samant also serves as Senior Vice President and Executive Officer, Regional Strategy, Americas, for Hitachi, Ltd., Executive Chairman of the Board of Hitachi Digital LLC, and a member of the Board of Hitachi Energy. Samant’s deep experience and forward-thinking vision will be instrumental in Hitachi America’s commitment to solving critical business and societal challenges.

Jun Taniguchi brings a wealth of experience from a 29-year career at Hitachi to his role as President and CEO of Hitachi America, Ltd., while also maintaining his roles as Vice President and Executive Officer of Hitachi, Ltd. and CEO of Hitachi Digital LLC. Prior to joining Hitachi Digital, Taniguchi served as CEO of Hitachi Global Life Solutions, leading the digitalization of Hitachi’s product business. He initially worked at Hitachi as a software engineer in the Social Innovation Projects Division and later as General Manager of the Control Systems Platform Division. His leadership and contributions to Hitachi’s growth and success will be critical to achieving Hitachi America’s strategic goals in the region.
