Explosive devices found in rural mailboxes: Saskatoon RCMP

According to Saskatoon Mounted Police, several mailboxes near Sunset Estates in the Blucher neighbourhood were broken into on Sunday and suspicious items were left inside.

One of the mailboxes was damaged by an explosive device.

On Monday morning, just before 10 a.m., the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received another report of an explosive device placed in a mailbox at 3040 Rural Road in the Corman Park community.

“Seven explosive devices were placed in mailboxes in the area,” RCMP said in a statement. “Six of the devices detonated, damaging the mailboxes.”

No injuries were reported.

Mounted police asked residents not to touch suspicious or unknown devices found in mailboxes. Anyone who finds a suspicious device or has information about these incidents is asked to contact Saskatoon RCMP at 310-RCMP.
