Xbox TV app now available on Amazon Fire Sticks

The Xbox TV app is now available on select Amazon Fire Stick devices.

Microsoft announced last month that Game Pass Ultimate members in more than 25 countries will soon be able to download the Xbox app on Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

The support is available today and allows Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to stream Xbox games to Fire TV devices without having to purchase a console.

To do this, players will need to install and launch the Xbox app on their Fire TV device, sign in with a Microsoft account, sign up for Game Pass Ultimate (if they haven’t already), and then connect a controller to play.

Supported Bluetooth wireless controllers include the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, and even PlayStation DualSense and DualShock 4 controllers.

“For the past few years, we’ve been committed to bringing cloud gaming to more devices and more people around the world,” Ashley McKissick, Xbox vice president of platform and experience engineering, said last month.

“We’re excited to add Fire TV to our growing family of cloud gaming devices and welcome new players into the space.”

A recently revealed patent apparently offers the first real look at Microsoft’s shelved Xbox streaming device.

First revealed in 2021 under the codename “Keystone,” the device was designed to allow gamers to stream games from their Xbox console to their TVs or monitors without needing a console.

However, Xbox shelved the game because it could not be produced at a low enough price to be sold at the expected price of $99 to $129.
