DISNEY PIXEL RPG Announced for Mobile Devices with Expected Release in 2024

GungHo Online Entertainment announced today Disney Pixel RPG, A new mobile RPG that takes players on a unique adventure with pixelated versions of Disney characters.

“Our story takes place in a chaotic world where multiple Disney game worlds are interconnected…” GungHo teaser on the game’s official website. “A ton of beloved Disney characters collected from different gaming worlds!”

The website features Maleficent from the RPG, Mickey Mouse from the board game, and Ariel from the rhythm game. We also see pixel versions of Baymax, Pooh, Genie, Aurora, and Stitch.

The premise of the game is that the worlds of these Disney characters have been attacked by strange programs and have begun to fall apart. These previously isolated game worlds have now been connected and it is up to you to restore order. In the company of beloved Disney characters, you will embark on epic quests across the game’s many worlds.

Disney Pixel RPGThe gameplay seems to be fairly in line with other free-to-play mobile games. Battles are described as “fast-paced” and “strategic,” but with simple controls that are accessible to those new to RPGs. There’s even an autoplay feature.

There are also a lot of customization options available. You can create your own avatar for your adventure and outfit it with a variety of Disney-themed clothing.

When you’re not actively playing, you can send your Disney characters on quests to gather materials. We don’t know exactly what materials they’ll be collecting or what they’ll be used for, though it’ll likely be something that increases the character’s stats or allows them to level up for more power.

Disney Pixel RPG will be free-to-play with in-game purchases available. We don’t know how you’ll unlock characters to join your team, though these types of games typically have GACHA mechanics with attraction rates and the like.

It is worth noting that GungHo Online Entertainment is the creator of the extremely popular game Puzzles and dragons game. While it is also free to play, the game offers a variety of in-game currencies, including Magic Stones, which are used for “Egg Machines,” which is one way players can unlock rarer monsters. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Disney Pixel RPG use similar mechanics to unlock Disney characters to join your team.

Disney Pixel RPG is set to launch in 18 countries and regions in 2024. Pre-registration for the game began today on iOS and Android. To play, you’ll need iOS 17.0 or later or Android 9.0 or later, as well as 4GB or more of RAM. As always, the pre-registration campaign features reward tiers based on how many people sign up before launch.
