FieldComm Group Joins PACTware Consortium

“PACTware has been used by engineers for years to configure individual FDT/DTM-enabled devices. We wanted to provide the same level of support for devices using FDI device packages. With FDI support in PACTware 6.1, that desire is now realized,” says Paul Sereiko, director of marketing and product strategy at FieldComm Group. “By including registered HART FDI device packages in FieldComm Group’s PACTware download, we have made it easier for end users to configure FDI devices and evaluate FDI-specific features such as User Interface Plug-ins (UIPs).”

With the support of FDI technology in PACTware 6.1, PACTware becomes one of the few vendor-neutral and fieldbus-independent applications that supports two leading device integration technologies, Field Device Integration (FDI) and FDT/DTM, in a single tool.

FieldComm Group is a standards organization for end users of process automation systems, manufacturers, universities, and research organizations. They work together to drive the development, implementation, and deployment of new and overlapping technologies. They also serve as a source for FDI technologies.

FieldComm Group states that its mission is to develop, manage and promote global standards for integrating digital devices with local, mobile and cloud-based systems; to provide standards compliance and implementation services for process automation devices and systems that enable and improve multi-vendor reliability and interoperability; and to lead the development of a unified process automation field device information model, while building on industry investments in HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus and FDI standards. Membership is open to anyone interested in leveraging the technology.
