Government taxes 14 sectors that were not taxed before

The government has decided to tax fourteen (14) sectors which were previously not taxed, announced State Finance Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya.

The state minister said the selected sectors included large-scale teaching, private schools, private medical services, engineering services and surveying services.

He added that the Tax Office has launched an investigation into the income of companies registered in the above-mentioned sectors.

State Minister Siyambalapitiya said no one would be allowed to evade taxes and that the 14 sectors must register to pay taxes.
