Brixton House makes executive appointments | Changing faces

DELIA BARKER has been promoted from interim managing director to executive director of Brixton House Theatre in London.

She has previously served as Director of the English National Ballet School, Programme Director at The Roundhouse and was long-time Chair of Studio Wayne McGregor.

Next to her, Ruth Hawkinswho is currently serving as interim head of programming and production for the organization, has been named executive creative producer.

Hawkins joined Brixton House as senior producer and dramaturg when it opened in 2021. She has also worked at the Royal Court Theatre, Ovalhouse Theatre, Donmar Warehouse and The Roundhouse.

Changes in management follow departure GARY JOHNSONExecutive Director for eight years, who is leaving to take up a new assignment as Chief Operating Officer of the Academy of Contemporary Music.

Barker said she was “thrilled” to take on the CEO role. “Over the past two years, I’ve seen incredible potential and passion in our community,” she continued.

“I look forward to continuing our work – creating a place that offers opportunities for meaningful cultural experiences through art that truly reflects, represents and celebrates the richness of our culture.”

Hawkins added: “Having been part of the core opening team, I am delighted to take on this new role and continue to push the boundaries of what we can achieve creatively at Brixton House.

“Supporting the stories and talents of our community and creating a home for local audiences is critical to the development of this venue and is my passion as a producer. I am committed to ensuring that they are at the forefront of everything we do.”
