Aqara U200 now available with Apple Home Key support

Apple’s Home Key is slowly making its way into more smart home locks. Aqara, fresh off the heels of its U50 smart lock, has just released the Aqara U200 with advanced security features, Matter support, Thread support, and Apple’s Home Key integration.

HomeKit Weekly is a series focusing on smart home accessories, automation tips and tricks, and everything related to Apple’s smart home infrastructure.

The Aqara U200 seems like a great choice for anyone looking to easily upgrade their current deadbolts. Its retrofit design makes it ideal for homeowners and renters, allowing you to upgrade from Euro mortise and US deadbolt locks without rekeying or redoing your door. Installing the Aqara U200 is simple and requires no tools other than a screwdriver.

Key Features:

  • Fingerprint recognition:Fast and secure access with the built-in fingerprint reader
  • PIN codes: Personalized codes can be entered on the included wireless keypad. Aqara app users can easily manage guest access with one-time passwords that can be created, shared, and used remotely, even when the lock is disconnected from any smart home platform
  • Mobile Apps and Voice Assistants: Remote access to lock and unlock is possible via Aqara, Amazon Alexa, HomeKit, Google Home/Google Assistant, SmartThings, Home Assistant and more
  • Aqara NFC Cards:Manual and easy unlocking with Aqara NFC key fobs
  • Traditional keys:emergency access using original door keys

The U200 takes home security to the next level with advanced encryption to protect against hacking, a tamper alarm on the wireless keypad, and an auto-lock feature that automatically secures your door after a set period of time. You’ll also receive real-time notifications about your home’s security status.

Building on the popular features of previous Aqara locks, the Aqara U200 offers local and encrypted fingerprint and password storage, PIN protection against snooping, and modes such as Do-Not-Disturb, Passage, and Night Latch. In addition, the Aqara U200 introduces a silent unlocking mode to reduce noise, a pull spring for handleless or inward-opening doors, and convenient twist-to-lock and twist-to-unlock functions.

Built on the Thread protocol, the U200 is designed for long-term use. It runs on lithium-ion batteries, offering up to six months of battery life on a single charge. The IPX5-rated keypad can run on AAA batteries or use existing doorbell wiring for constant power.
