Be prepared for elevated fire danger in southeast Michigan through midday Tuesday

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 4:13 a.m. EDT Tuesday for high fire danger until 12:15 p.m. EDT for Cass, St. Joseph, Branch, Hillsdale and Berrien counties.

The weather service says: “The combination of warm temperatures, light winds and low relative humidity will result in an elevated fire danger this afternoon and early evening as brush, grass and fields not harvested continue to dry. »

“Any fire that ignites can spread quickly and become very difficult to control, especially in areas of grass, brush and unharvested fields,” describes the weather service.
