Golf star ‘kicked out of LIV’ and banned from returning to PGA Tour | Golf | Sport

American golfer Hudson Swafford has been kicked out of LIV Golf after a dismal 2024 season.

The 37-year-old finished tied for 36th in the first LIV event of the year and failed to improve on that result in the following 12 meetings. And according to Flushing It, the bosses of the Saudi-backed separatist tour have chosen not to renew his contract.

Swafford’s misfortune is compounded by the fact that, even if he wanted to return to the PGA Tour, he will be ineligible for an additional 12 months due to his participation in the LIV, which is considered an “unsanctioned event.”

Swafford opened his account on the PGA Tour in 2017 by winning the CareerBuilder Challenge in California. The Florida-born competitor had to wait more than three years for his second triumph at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship. And his third arrived at The American Express in 2022.

Despite his rise to prominence, Swafford took a leap of faith by joining LIV Golf for its inaugural event, resulting in his PGA Tour membership being suspended indefinitely.

A hip injury left Swafford sidelined for much of 2023 and he was one of two wild cards this season. His wildcard status saved him from the drop, although he finished in the relegation zone, but his contract was in no way renewed.

With the American kicked out by LIV and unable to return to the PGA Tour for another year, it remains to be seen what he does next. One option is to compete in the Asian Tour International Series, which serves as a pathway to LIV for whoever finishes at the top of the leaderboard.
