Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: Sugar Stocks Fall, Sensex Falls

NEW DELHI: Sugar stocks were trading lower at 10:14 am on Wednesday, with KM Sugar Mills Ltd. up 0.19% among the top gainers.

Top losers included KCP Sugar & Industries Corporation Ltd. (down 3.72%), Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd. (down 3.51%), Mawana Sugars Ltd. (down 2.67%), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries Ltd. (down 2.59%), Sakthi Sugars Ltd. (down 2.36%), Simbhaoli Sugars Ltd. (down 2.31%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd. (down 2.15%), Dalmia Bharat Sugar and Industries Ltd. (down 1.79%), Triveni Engineering & Industries Ltd. (down 1.59%) and Ugar Sugar Works Ltd. (down 1.57%).

The NSE Nifty50 index was down 117.41 points at 24,315.8, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 379.36 points at 79,972.28 around 10:14 am.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (up 2.83%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (up 1.65%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (up 1.63%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 0.89%), NTPC Ltd. (up 0.75%), Titan Company Ltd. (up 0.64%), Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 0.59%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (up 0.52%), Asian Paints Ltd. (up 0.5%) and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (up 0.46%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (down 5.57%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 1.61%), State Bank of India (down 1.46%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (down 1.37%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 1.33%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (down 1.28%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (down 1.2%), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 1.09%), Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (down 1.03%) and Coal India Ltd. (down 1.0%) were trading in the red.
