Operating at full capacity of 120,000 tons per year, the Maryland Bioenergy Center uses anaerobic digestion technology to transform food waste into renewable natural gas and nutrient-rich soil amendments. The facility’s capacity of over 300,000 MMBtu powers over 7,000 homes per year, and its carbon dioxide reductions are equivalent to taking 19,000 gasoline-powered cars off the road each year.
