French rugby club raises its game with Daktronics screens

Daktronics has partnered with audiovisual systems supplier Pekason to design, manufacture and install an LED display system for French rugby club Stade Toulousain.

Located at each end of the Stade Ernest-Wallon, the displays measure 4.5 m high and 8.3 m. They replace the Daktronics displays installed in 2008, improving the resolution from 23mm pixel spacing to 10mm.

Higher resolution displays provide noticeably sharper images. They are able to zone content variably, so each screen can display one large image or multiple zones featuring live video, instant replays, statistics, charts, animations and sponsorship messages.

Julien Perie, co-founder of Pekason, says: “For this renewal, we naturally chose the Daktronics screens again, as the club was satisfied with their longevity, extremely low failure rate and reliability. We supported the stadium in the technical choice and adaptation, because technologies have evolved a lot over the last 15 years.

“There have been only positive reactions. For fans who regularly attend matches, the difference is noticeable.”

Alain Castelbou, Daktronics sales director for France, said: “The new technology brings an incredible experience to a very prestigious customer. The luxury of the windows is worthy of the famous rugby club that plays here and deserves only the best for its fans.
