Stock Market Sectors: Stock Market Update: FMCG Stocks Down as Market Falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks ended lower on Wednesday with top gainers including Sheetal Cool Products Ltd. (up 5.98%), Honasa Consumer Ltd. (up 3.20%), Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd. (up 2.65%), Zydus Wellness Ltd. (up 2.53%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (up 2.27%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (up 1.53%), Colgate-Palmolive(India) Ltd. (up 1.51%), Heritage Foods Ltd. (up 1.35%), Bikaji Foods International Ltd. (up 1.35%) and Marico Ltd. (up 1.31%).

Top losers of the day included Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd. (down 4.33%), Jyothy Labs Ltd. (down 2.32%), JHS Svendgaard Laboratories Ltd. (down 2.04%), Dangee Dums Ltd. (down 1.80%), Hindustan Foods Ltd. (down 1.79%), Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd. (down 1.66%), Vadilal Industries Ltd. (down 1.46%), ADF Foods Ltd. (down 1.20%), Adani Wilmar Ltd. (down 0.98%) and Emami Ltd. (down 0.94%).

The NSE Nifty50 index ended the day down 108.75 points at 24,324.45, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 426.87 points at 79,924.77.

Asian Paints Ltd. (up 3.15%), SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 2.24%), Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (up 1.87%), Britannia Industries Ltd. (up 1.53%), Grasim Industries Ltd. (up 1.47%), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd. (up 1.46%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (up 1.44%), NTPC Ltd. (up 1.16%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. (up 0.88%) and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (up 0.83%) were among the top gainers on the Nifty.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (down 6.62%), Tata Steel Ltd. (down 2.23%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (down 1.94%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (down 1.92%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (down 1.44%), State Bank of India (down 1.43%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (down 1.39%), Shriram Finance Ltd. (down 1.08%), JSW Steel Ltd. (down 1.06%) and Wipro Ltd. (down 1.01%) ended in the red.
