33 Innovators Selected for U.S. Department of Energy Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced the latest round of cohorts in its Lab-Embedded Entrepreneurship Program (LEEP). Thirty-three innovators have been selected to work at four U.S. National Laboratories, where they will work with an extensive network of mentors and experts to develop next-generation technologies that will help ensure a sustainable and equitable clean energy future that benefits all Americans.

Since the program began in 2015, 153 LEEP startups have raised $2.73 billion in matched funding and created more than 2,343 jobs. Previous LEEP innovators have developed breakthrough technologies spanning American industries—and launched successful American manufacturing companies—that will help accelerate the nation’s clean energy future.

During the two-year program, these innovators will conduct critical research and development to refine their startup technologies with the goal of ultimately taking these technologies from the lab to the market. The program also supports innovators in developing their entrepreneurial acumen, preparing them to launch successful energy and manufacturing businesses.
