House passes Rep. Langworthy’s bill to curb device regulations – Finger Lakes Daily News

A bipartisan bill introduced by Rep. Nick Langworthy that aims to curb what he calls “regulatory overreach” on home dishwashers has passed the House of Representatives. On Tuesday, the Stop Unaffordable Dishwasher Standards Act, or SUDS, passed, with seven Democrats joining Republicans in supporting it.

According to Rep. Langworthy, who represents Schuyler and Steuben counties in the House of Representatives, the Biden administration’s proposed dishwasher efficiency standards would significantly reduce the amount of water and energy these appliances can use, making dishwashers more expensive and less efficient…

“Millions of Americans can’t afford to buy a first home or even save for a rainy day. So what is this Biden administration doing? It’s imposing more regulations, more requirements, and higher standards on the most basic household appliances.”

Langworthy adds that an analysis of the proposed standards by the U.S. Department of Energy estimates that Americans would save $17 over 12 years.
