The next SSI payments are expected to be distributed on November 1. SSI payments are provided to people living with debilitating disabilities that affect their income, according to the Social Security Administration.

To meet eligibility criteria, filers must be at least partially blind or have “one or more physical or mental conditions that seriously limit daily activities for 12 months or more or may result in death.”

The amount received depends on how many people apply and how they apply. Applicants filing individually can receive up to $943 per month, couples filing jointly can receive up to $1,415, and essential individuals, or those who provide necessary care to SSI recipients, can receive up to $472 . Inflation has increased these amounts by 3.2% since last year.

SSI payments and regular Social Security benefits are not related. Those who receive Social Security benefits are not automatically eligible for SSI benefits and vice versa.
