City introduces overnight parking permits in west Orillia

Permits will allow parking at Walter Henry Park, West Ridge Park and Clayt French Park.

PRESS RELEASE
CITY OF ORILLIA

In an effort to help residents in the western Orillia area who need overnight parking options this winter, the City of Orillia is introducing overnight parking permits for designated park areas.

“Overnight parking restrictions during the winter season are crucial to ensuring our streets are safe and accessible for snow removal; however, we also recognize that many households in western Orillia face parking challenges, with multiple vehicles or tenants requiring additional spaces,” said Mayor Don McIsaac. “By introducing this new program to select parks, we are striking a balance between maintaining the city’s winter operations and supporting residents who need additional parking options when on-street parking restrictions are in effect at night . »

Permits will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Monday, October 28, 2024, at 8 a.m. at Downtown Orillia, located at 50 Andrew Street S. Permits will cost $375 , plus HST, and are valid from November 15, 2024 to April 15, 2025 between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.

The following parks will have designated spaces with overnight parking permits:

  • Walter Henry Park (3050 Orion Boulevard) — seven spaces
  • West Ridge Park (900 West Ridge Blvd.) – four spaces
  • Clayt French Park (114 Atlantis Dr.) — 13 spaces

Overnight parking restrictions are in effect from November 15 to April 15 each year. The City of Orillia also offers overnight parking permits for municipal parking lots 1 and 6 downtown.
