Search for woman who fell overboard from Royal Caribbean’s Taylor Swift-themed cruise

A desperate search continues for a 66-year-old woman who fell overboard from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship.

The Coast Guard told Scripps News the woman fell from the vessel Tuesday evening around 9:40 p.m.

The woman was traveling aboard the Allure of the Seas ship, which left Miami on Monday on a Taylor Swift-themed voyage honoring the pop star who is wrapping up a three-night Eras tour stop in the city.

The cruise ship was 17 miles north of Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, when the incident occurred.

“Our team immediately launched a search and rescue operation and is working with local authorities. We also provide support and assistance to the traveler’s family during this difficult time. To respect the privacy of our guests’ families, we have no additional details to share,” a Royal Caribbean spokesperson said in a statement to Scripps News.

The Royal Bahamas Defense Force is the lead agency in the search effort. The Coast Guard is also helping.

The Coast Guard said it deployed a plane and helicopter crew to help locate the woman.

Rescue teams from the RBDF and Coast Guard continue their search.

The cruise, filled with Swifties, was a four-night trip to the Bahamas.
