Skimming Devices Found at 2 Connecticut Big Y Stores

CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Big Y officials announced Monday they have launched an investigation after a skimming device was found on checkout terminals at multiple Connecticut stores.

Company officials said on June 29 they discovered a scanning device connected to one terminal at the Naugatuck and Plainville stores.

They said they were working with law enforcement to investigate how the devices were installed.

They advised customers to check their bank and credit card statements for fraud and suspicious activity.

“If we learn that a specific customer’s data has been compromised, we will promptly notify them and provide them with additional information so they can take appropriate steps to protect themselves,” the company said.

Big Y customers with questions or concerns are asked to call 1-800-828-2688 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
