Minister Sanjay Seth highlights HAL’s role in making defence sector self-reliant

Bengaluru: Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Monday said Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will play a significant role in realising India’s goal of self-reliance in the defence sector.

Addressing the top management of HAL, including Chairman and Managing Director CB Ananthakrishnan, the Minister emphasised on working with the private sector to achieve the government’s objective of making India a global defence manufacturing hub.

He added that HAL has to ensure that the challenges related to design and development, production and delivery are resolved on time.

Seth also discussed the various programs being implemented by HAL at Defence PSU facilities.

HAL officials briefed the minister on the company’s products, repair and overhaul systems, aircraft modernisation, avionics development, exports, engine manufacturing, manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, non-core activities, civil maintenance, repair and operations initiatives and support to the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro).

The MoS chief also visited squadrons of Tejas light combat aircraft and helicopters.
