Australian experts to train university students in agriculture

A five-day workshop on “Sustainable Livestock Production and Animal Health” was inaugurated at Dr GC Negi College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Agricultural University Himachal Pradesh, Palampur, in collaboration with University of Melbourne , Australia. The Australian university team would train postgraduate students from the university of agriculture.

Vice-chancellor Naveen Kumar stressed on exploring the possibility of greater cooperation in animal production and health. He said the sustainable development of the livestock industry should meet the demands of the growing world population for safe and secure food obtained from animals raised in harsh conditions while protecting the environment.

Naveen welcomed team members from Australia to the workshop. Dean of the college Ravindra Kumar welcomed the guests and thanked them for participating in the training workshop. Training coordinator and head of the department Rajesh Chahota said four scientists from the University of Melbourne, namely Grant Rollin (team leader), Roger Paskin, Jeff Cave and Surinder Singh, would provide training to the students postgraduates and young college teachers to improve their skills. in the diagnosis of infectious diseases of livestock and various epidemiological tools to control and prevent them.
