In some U.S. states, residents can add their driver’s license or ID card to the Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch, providing a convenient, contactless way to view proof of identity or age in certain airports and businesses, as well as in certain applications.

Below, we describe the U.S. states that are offering this feature, as well as other states that have committed to rolling it out in the future.

Last month, Apple announced that the following three states had “committed” to adopting this feature in the future, but did not provide a timeline:

  • Montana
  • New Mexico
  • West Virginia

In March 2022, Apple listed other states that had also committed to this feature, and some have since followed through. The remainder:

  • Connecticut
  • Kentucky
  • Mississippi
  • Oklahoma
  • Utah

Apple also said the feature would be supported in Puerto Rico.

Apple says travelers should refer to TSA checkpoint signage to confirm the feature’s availability, and the TSA website offers more details.
